GENERAL QUESTIONS
1. What is the typical duration of
travel nursing assignments?
Most travel nursing assignments are 13 weeks long; however, shorter
and longer nursing jobs may be available at particular facilities.
2. Do I have to sign a one year contract?
No. Your contractual commitment is only for one assignment at
a time. While on assignment, you can decide if you would like
to extend your current assignment, accept a different assignment,
take a permanent position or simply take some time off. The choice
is always yours.
3. Where are your assignments located?
We have assignments available in all 50 states at all types of
healthcare facilities, ranging from the largest and most well
known teaching hospitals in the country to small clinics in rural
areas.
4. Will I work full-time while on
an assignment?
Our travel or contract assignments are almost always contracted
for full-time (36 or 40 hour work weeks). Our per diem assignments
are offered on a shift basis.
5. What are the minimum requirements
to become a Traveler?
Minimum requirements may vary slightly depending on your profession.
For most professions, one year of recent hospital based experience
in your specialty is required. Verifiable good references and
a valid professional practice license are also required.
6. If a friend and I want to travel
together, is it feasible to obtain assignments in the same city?
Because we have so many assignments available, traveling with
a friend is no problem. We have many travel partners who travel
together and work at the same facility or different facilities
in the same city.
7. Can I bring family members, friends
or my pets with me when I travel to assignments?
Of course! We understand and supports our Travelers' desire to
have family, friends and even pets!
8. How long will the process take
to be approved and choose an assignment?
The timetable depends on you and how quickly YOU want to move
forward. If you have all the required documentation at your fingertips
we can begin reviewing assignments with you immediately upon our
receipt of your application. Depending on where you choose to
go, you could begin work within a few days or a few weeks. Some
of our Travelers even set up assignments 4 or 5 months in advance.
It is really never too early or too late.
9. What are the attributes of a successful
Traveler?
Flexibility. Adaptability. Highly competent clinically. A spirit
for adventure!
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
1. What can I expect my wages to
be for travel assignments?
Pay rates are set individually for each Client facility and, therefore,
they will probably be different for each assignment location.
Here are some initial guidelines:
- Therapist pay rates usually range between $18 and $36 per
hour.
2. Are cash bonuses paid at any assignments?
Yes. Travel assignments offer cash bonuses ranging from $500 to
$2500. These incentives, usually offered as Completion Bonuses,
are paid at the end of your assignment.
3. What benefits will I receive while
working with Allied?
Free group medical, dental and life insurance. Free deluxe housing
on nearly all travel assignments. Travel reimbursement, licensure
and certification reimbursement, and more.
4. If I refer a friend to Allied,
am I eligible for a referral bonus?
Absolutely. In fact, more healthcare professionals come to Allied
Healthcare Staffing through referrals from their friends and co-workers
than from any other source. Our referral program provides you
with an easy way of making referrals and earning $250 for each.
5. Can I add my spouse or dependents
to the health insurance plan?
Yes, you may add dependents to our group plan. You simply complete
the enrollment paperwork and pay the monthly premium. (Remember,
coverage for you is FREE.)
TRAVEL EXPENSES
1. How is my travel reimbursement
calculated?
For the majority of travel assignments a travel reimbursement
is paid to Travelers directly by Allied. Occasionally your travel
reimbursement may be paid to you directly by the Client facility.
Travel reimbursement is usually paid at a rate of 20 cents per
mile with a one-way or roundtrip cap.
HOUSING
1. What type of housing accommodations
can I expect?
We provide the best location for each individual assignment. Unless
you request your own private apartment, Travelers typically share
a two bedroom two bathroom apartment or condominium with another
Traveler. Apartments/condos are always fully furnished and normally
we set up and pay for all utilities. Occasionally, if the healthcare
facility owns a house or apartment building, you may stay in hospital
provided housing. You also usually have the option of receiving
a monthly rent stipend (called a housing subsidy) and handling
your own arrangements.
2. If I take my pet on assignment
with me, will I incur extra housing costs?
If you travel with another Traveler who is agreeable to living
with your pet, you can take free shared housing; otherwise, you
may need to opt for your own private apartment, for which you
would pay a reasonable charge dictated by housing costs in the
specific area of the assignment. Some apartment complexes also
require payment of a pet deposit.
3. If I choose to stay with family
or friends while on assignment, can I still receive a monthly
housing stipend?
How much would this be? Yes, whether you rent your own apartment
or stay with a relative, you will still receive a monthly housing
subsidy in lieu of staying in our provided housing. The amount
varies for each assignment and can range between $400 and $1300
per month.
